Hello and welcome to the first issue of Chai Times, your very own Community Newspaper for Great Lever and Bolton.
2014 has been an eventful year at our humble abode at Great Lever. Earlier in the year we saw the UCAN centre change to a Community Centre (GLC)– a novel and bold experiment by Bolton at Home. STEP came into prominence with their Olympic Boxing Club amongst other activities, Book Launch of Inspirational Women’s Book 2014 by WiN, Bollywood Nights Meet Ups by Bolton Film Club, youth group Federation for Peace for Women, Parent Toddlers by Pop in and learn Café, Mathematics in New Madina Mosque, Food Doctor Steve Jones, Healthy Juicing by All Natural Health and lots of youth related work by Bolton Wanderers.
This, I can assure you, is just the tip of the iceberg. There is lots more happening in the community by very dedicated, committed and silent volunteers. Stars of the Community Awards by Bolton at Home celebrated this fantastic community spirit at the Macron Stadium on the 13th of November.
Chai Times aim is to provide the local community with information about issues that affect all of us here in Great Lever and Bolton and to keep you up to date with news of entertainment and events in the local area.
Lastly, we would like to thank a number of organisations for their support in helping to create this publication – in particular Bolton at Home, Forever Manchester, Great Lever Connected and the Neighbourhood Managers in our community. We very much hope that you enjoy reading Chai Times.
We look forward to hearing from you about issues that are of concern to you, or just to hear your views or your stories that you believe may provide inspiration or food-for-thought for your fellow readers.
