Local community action is being celebrated through a national event taking place on Friday 15th December 2017. Local Charities Day will highlight the work of small charities that are making remarkable differences in the community. It is a good opportunity to shine a spotlight on those unsung heroes and celebrate the commitment of those amazing volunteers who devote their time to improving the lives of others.
Bolton Community and Voluntary Services (CVS) works together to develop a diverse, strong and effective voluntary and community sector in Bolton. Bolton CVS are taking this opportunity to showcase some of the many local community and voluntary organisations that give their time to make Bolton better for everyone.
Darren Knight, Chief Officer at Bolton CVS has said: ‘If it was down to me, everyday would be Local Charities Day and across Bolton we’d have to promote 4 good causes every day, as we’ve got 1,561 voluntary and community groups making things happen in the borough. This is the second year that Bolton CVS have shined a light on Local Charities Day and it’s so important to me and the whole team because local voluntary and community action is what we exist to support. At Bolton CVS, we spend so much of our time providing guidance, support, help and advice to volunteers, groups and organisations – it’s brilliant to be able to celebrate them all too.
Getting the chance to promote, shout and share all about the immense and fantastic contribution of those individuals, volunteers, staff and trustees from across our borough that change lives through giving their time, skills and talents through local voluntary and community sector activity is a genuine treat; simply because they all work so hard to make a positive change.
My hope is that Local Charities Day 2017 inspires more people to get involved in their community, so give Bolton CVS a call and we’ll get you the support you need to make a difference.’
